Matilda Bay was looking to put together a simple but sleek experience at their newly opened Healesville brewpub, while maintaining their reputation for excellent attention to detail and unique style.
Bespoke Brewing Solutions was selected for the cellar vessels and contracted to work with other vendors to handle the design and installation.
What culminated was a breathtaking example of careful planning and concentrated execution.

Matilda Bay Brewing Company
Matilda Bay is a strong brand name in the Australian market for a reason. Over many years, they have established themselves as a benchmark for craft brewers.
Established in 1984, the company has developed some iconic tastes – including the Yak Brewing range.
Their passion for pushing the boundaries and finding the next great brew is what sets them apart. They are always looking to introduce something just a little bit different – and they listen to the chat in the industry, drawing on the craft beer community for inspiration.
THE CHALLENGES
Huge projects like this involve big names – and are usually a collaboration between several contributors. In a project of this magnitude, if one player drops the ball – it costs the whole team.
Bespoke Brewing Solutions worked directly with Matilda Bay and the installation team, TFG Group, to ensure every part was delivered exactly as desired – and when needed.
We also needed to be flexible, to work around the overarching design plan. This is where our ‘bespoke’ solution really came into play.

The Solution
Matilda Bay shared a grand vision.
It quickly became our job to listen, assess and interpret the design of the cellar vessels that would respect that vision – while providing practical production needs.
And of course, when there are multiple stakeholders in a project, having clear and concise drawings is critical to prevent any issues.
‘The Bespoke team responded to any queries in an incredibly timely manner, at all hours of the night - I don't know how much sleep John gets! The communication levels were fantastic. Bespoke has the ability to solve problems quickly - they are very responsive.'
Matilda Bay requested glycol port locations on the front of the vessels, to integrate with their cellar platform. We worked with their local team to ensure the glycol port locations would seamlessly integrate to the platform they planned to run straight down the middle of the cellar.
Our flexibility to follow through with the client’s vision by working with their local team allowed the brewpub equipment to come together beautifully.
Results
While we have had the opportunity to work on some very high-end brewpubs – this project’s end result was really special. The pictures speak for themselves.
The opportunity to work with the teams at Matilda Bay and TFG Group was humbling. It was an amazing project and we definitely appreciated the chance to learn and absorb some of their experience.
We preach continuous improvement – and this was a real opportunity for us to learn.
